Here are four 1956-D mint mark wheat back pennies I have pulled out of my collection. They are all regular looking wheat cents with the usual amount of wear for their age.
The 1956 penny is extremely common regardless of its mint mark. Of course the S mint version is the rarest but will still be worth about the same amount as this one to collectors.
No reason you shouldn't hang onto it though. It's still worth more than a Lincoln Memorial penny.
