1950s Wheat Back Pennies, The 1953-D Mint Mark Penny

Wheat pennies from the 1950s, how much are 1950s wheat pennies worth

The 1950s was a great time period in American culture. WWII was over, the economy was booming and music was starting to become cool. It was also a time when people started thinking about collecting as a hobby. Incomes for American families were up and all that disposable cash could be used for luxury items or investment.

A lot of people reading this blog will remember starting their collections around this time. Unfortunately I wasn't alive yet to start hoarding coins. If I was I'd have a much larger collection by now.

Those of you that did begin your collections in the 1950s probably have a lot of copies of the 1953-D mint mark wheat back penny. It's very common in the world of American cents. Not much value in this one but worth hanging onto as prices move upward in the future.

Like most circulated condition wheat pennies you'll have to wait awhile for these to gain any real ground if you want to sell them. Just squirrel them away and in a few decades you can start looking at their improved value.
