Collecting 1955-D Mint Mark Wheat Back Pennies

In the process of collecting wheat back pennies and other vintage American coins you will find yourself looking at many 1955-D pennies as well as many other 1940s and 1950s varieties.

The 1955-D is just one of those very common mint dates that you cannot avoid. This wouldn't be so bad if you could come up with the occasional mint or at least a good condition coin but alas you will have no such luck unless you search through literally thousands of dollars worth of Lincoln Memorial and shield pennies. This can be done but it takes a huge investment of time.

Most people give up on the hobby of collecting old coins because it is so time consuming and also very dirty work. Your hands will be filthy after just thirty minutes of coin roll hunting. In today's environment you will only find one wheat back penny for every 100 to 200 coins you search.

You should never get discouraged even if it seems like forever since you scored your last valuable find. Just look at all the other hunters out there making incredible discoveries. This could just as easily be you. Remember your chances of getting a super rare coin are better than winning the lottery and this hobby is a lot cheaper than gambling in fact it has no overhead costs whatsoever.

In summary just keep swimming and you will find those rare and valuable pennies and before you know it you will have a massive collection of old wheat pennies that you can be proud of. Be sure to drop me a line if you find anything interesting.
