Here are four more 1946-D mint mark wheat back pennies I pulled out of my huge jar of old coins. These old copper cents are plentiful if your looking for 1940s or 1950s pennies but if you looking for something a bit older like a 1920s or a 1930s penny you are going to have to do a lot more searching.
It does take a lot of patience to be in this hobby. You can go through hundreds of dollars worth of Lincoln Memorial pennies just to find a few very old wheat cents but in the long run you will have a complete collection. The hard part is getting average circulated condition coins that still look in fairly decent shape. Believe it or not I have found a few mint condition wheat pennies this way but they have all been newer date coins from the 1950s.
