Here are four examples of 1952-D wheat back pennies. These are all circulated condition wheat pennies I pulled from coin roll hunting. I'm going through a huge collection of old pennies that I have sitting in a jar. I will be adding these to this blog as I separate them by dates. The post will either be in sets of 2 or 4 pennies.
As you begin collecting pennies you're going to find that 1952-D wheat pennies and in general all one cent coins from the 1940s and 1950s are fairly easy to find, but when you start hunting for older pennies they will become much less common and high mint value coins are extremely rare. Even when you do find newer pennies like these you will still find them in various conditions that usually range from poor circulated condition to very low mint ratings and the later will be very rare.
Notice that all four of these wheat back pennies are fairly worn down but the best condition one is the one on the lower right-hand corner. You can still see all the curls in Lincoln's hair. This is basically what you should expect win searching for older Lincoln head pennies. Don't give up though there are many older wheat back pennies to be found and even Indian head pennies will pop up every now and then so keep looking.
