1957-D Wheat Back Pennies

Here are four 1957 D mint mark wheat back pennies. As you can see the penny in the bottom right-hand corner is getting more light. But the glare isn't actually that bad if you look at both sides of the penny there is more copper showing through. I believe this is because someone tried to clean it.

You'll see pennies like this as you continue your hunt. Sometimes when people find dirty wheat pennies that someone tried to clean. This is always a bad idea, any collector who knows what they're doing will be able to see that a penny has been cleaned. This takes away from the natural coloring or patina of the penny. People who are trained numismatist will be able to tell the penny has been altered from its original state.

Never ever clean your pennies if you want them to maintain their original value. You might be able full some people on online auctions but you will never be able to get the true monetary value of the coin from a dealer or serious collector.
